The Fresno City Council Will Vote on Ballot Measure for Legal Cannabis Sales

6/7/2018

On June 14 at 9:00 am the Fresno City Council will have a meeting to vote whether to place a cannabis measure on the Nov. 6 general election ballot. The proposal calls for the imposition of a “Cannabis Business License Tax.”

This is a great opportunity to have your voice heard. By attending the city council meeting you can talk about your concerns with cannabis regulation in the area. If you've never attended a city council meeting before you can speak at the podium for 3 minutes regarding any agenda item. You just need to fill out a card at the meeting and submit it. There is no cussing when you speak otherwise they will not allow you to continue.

The agenda for the city council meeting can be found here and the section about cannabis can be found on page 15 of that document. The city council can discuss the cannabis measure at any time during the meeting.

Last August the Fresno City Council voted 4-3 to ban recreational marijuana shops from operating within city limits. In December, the City Council voted 7-0 to instruct staff to craft new laws to allow medical marijuana in the city.

The city of Fresno is changing their tune on cannabis. Attend the city council meeting so your voice and the voice of the people who voted for Prop 64 is not left out of the conversation.
